Redskins want to stop being such accommodating hosts

DeAngelo Hall, Trent Williams and their Washington Redskins teammates are looking forward to running out of the tunnel at FedEx Field on Sunday as fans welcome them back with cheers. The Redskins return home with a bit of momentum after last week's road win over Tampa Bay improved their record to 2-2 and moved them into a tie for second place in the NFC East. Redskins’ secondary faces steep challenge in Ryan, Falcons

When Washington Redskins cornerbacks DeAngelo Hall and Josh Wilson line up on Sunday and peer across the line of scrimmage into the backfield, they'll see one of the last quarterbacks a maligned secondary would want to face. Published October 5, 2012

Redskins’ wide receivers come in handy with blocks

Alfred Morris raced across the goal line Sunday and celebrated his touchdown in a way familiar to anyone who has followed the Washington Redskins' first four games. He pantomimed tossing a baseball into the air and swinging a bat. Then he held his hand above his eyes, as if to shield the sun from his vision as he watched the home run sail into the distance. Mike Shanahan shares Billy Cundiff’s confidence in field goals

Billy Cundiff's story of redemption Sunday as he made the game-winning field goal softened the blow of the kicker going 1-for-4. And it ensured that as of Wednesday's practice, Cundiff was still the Washington Redskins' kicker. Published October 3, 2012

RG3 leads comeback drive as Billy Cundiff redeems himself to sink Bucs

Before Robert Griffin III could seize the moment in Tampa on Sunday evening, there had to be a moment for him to seize. Washington Redskins veteran quarterback Rex Grossman knew that. So when Griffin's nerves tensed as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lined up to kick a go-ahead field goal in the final two minutes, Grossman steered Griffin toward it. Published September 30, 2012

Raheem Morris’ Tampa Bay homecoming hinges on secondary play

Raheem Morris will give out handshakes and hugs, many to his former players, before the Washington Redskins play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. The Irvington, N.J., native feels as though he actually were born and raised in Tampa because of everything he experienced with the Buccaneers during nine seasons as quality control coach, head coach and everything in between before becoming the Redskins' defensive backs coach in the offseason. Woes of Redskins’ secondary are glaring in first three weeks

Mike Shanahan drafted Robert Griffin III in April with the intention of plugging him into a proven formula for success with a rookie quarterback. Through three weeks, a strong defense, specifically the secondary, has not matched Griffin's contribution to the formula. Published September 27, 2012

RG3 underwent concussion test in game vs. Bengals

Washington Redskins fans aren't the only ones who show concern when Robert Griffin III takes a hit and lies on the ground. Redskins’ rash of penalties cause for concern

Mike Shanahan's face turned that special shade of red when Washington Redskins receiver Joshua Morgan threw the football at an opponent in the closing moments of last Sunday's loss to St. Louis. The outburst pushed the Redskins out of field goal range and extinguished any hope of sending that three-point defeat to overtime. Published September 20, 2012

Quarterback Robert Griffin III was surprised not to feel very sore when he woke up Monday morning. In addition to being knocked to the ground 13 times before the whistle in Sunday's 31-28 loss to the St. Louis Rams, he absorbed some punishment after it, as well. Published September 19, 2012

Mike Shanahan implores Redskins to learn from costly penalty

The damage caused by the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty Joshua Morgan committed at the end of the Washington Redskins' loss to St. Louis on Sunday can't be undone, but the gaffe can be used as a learning tool going forward. Published September 17, 2012
