Jennifer Harper

A graduate of Syracuse University, Jennifer Harper writes the daily Inside the Beltway column and provides additional coverage of breaking national news, plus long-term trends in politics, media issues, public opinion, popular culture, Hollywood foibles and “eureka” moments in health and science.

She has been a frequent broadcast commentator on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, C-SPAN, Voice of America, Citadel Broadcasting, Talk Radio Network and other news organizations. Born in Elizabeth, N.J., Ms. Harper grew up in Texas and arrived in Washington in time for Watergate -- and has been tracking the political and media landscape ever since.

She is an active member of the American Federation of TV Radio Artists and Screen Actors Guild. She has won 14 journalism awards during her years at The Washington Times.

Ascent Strategic -- a prominent political consulting firm -- has a reminder for candidates and political organizations poised to encounter the midterm elections. It's been a year since the unfortunate attack on the U.S. Capitol. The event has been heavily covered by the news media, analysts and pundits for the last 12 months -- and that coverage continues. There is much focus on security issues, political opportunities and former President Donald Trump's sudden decision to abandon a press conference he had planned to conduct Thursday from Mar-a-Lago, Florida. Bring back the ‘America First’ agenda

The promising news these days is that the Republican Party could reclaim the U.S. Congress in November. That's a start. "But taking nominal control of Capitol Hill won't be enough. Will Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy and their lieutenants be content with stopping the woke and socialist-inspired agenda of progressives? Or will they boldly implement a full-throttle populist nationalist 'America First' agenda? Things changed in the year 2021. Los Angeles Magazine reports that attitudes toward firearms are evolving in the Golden State. ‘Omicronmania’ strikes the U.S.

According to John Hopkins University, the first case of COVID-19 was reported on Dec. 1, 2019, in Wuhan, China. Which means that the U.S. and much of the world have been living with the virus for two years, and that 2022 will mark the third year of this medical challenge. Published December 22, 2021

Protecting Biden: Major news networks ignore the border

It is almost a tradition for the "Big Three" broadcast networks -- NBC, ABC and CBS -- to soft-pedal or omit coverage of issues that don't reflect well on the Democratic Party.
