The Second Amendment got attacked this week from three sides, leaving gun owners scrambling to find safe ground. While President Obama has lost momentum for federal gun-control laws, he has picked up victories with his allies in blue states and at the United Nations. Published April 4, 2013

MILLER: Hey Piers Morgan, Adam Lanza was not a NRA member

The terrible murderer of children and teachers in Newtown, Conn., Adam Lanza, was not a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA) despite the media reports. CNN host Piers Morgan who is rabidly anti-gun, took these harmless pieces of evidence to insinuate the NRA is somehow complicit in the horrific crime. Published March 28, 2013

MILLER: Gun polling shifts, still way off target

Despite President Obama’s best efforts to exploit the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School for his political agenda, the public is starting to see through his maneuver. Polls show that the support for Mr. Obama’s gun-control wishlist is falling. Even so, the polls continue to be skewed in a way that gives the false impression of a higher approval than really exists. MILLER: Stand with guns

“Stand with Rand” was so positive for the public discourse, that we now need to “Stand with Guns.” Three Republican senators told Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid that they will filibuster bringing his gun-control bills to the floor in early April. While procedurally they can’t announce in advance, an old-fashioned filibuster about the facts of gun-control laws would be a great educational tool for a wide audience. Published March 26, 2013

Mike Bloomberg is spending $12 million on attack ads designed to force U.S. senators to vote for national gun control laws that will supposedly save lives. However, the New York mayor’s commercials running in 13 states over the next two weeks may cause injury and death by showcase irresponsible handling of a firearm. Published March 25, 2013

MILLER: 10 worst things about Senate Democrats’ budget

Senate Democrats had four years to consider spending and taxing policies that would help our bad economy. Apparently, they ignored their lawful responsibility since 2009 only so that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid could avoid exposing that his party has no ideas to avoid our nation going bankrupt. The vice president of the United States shouldn't dispense advice that would put anyone taking it behind bars. In his role as President Obama's top lobbyist for gun control, Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. has been shooting from both hip and lip, promoting the shotgun as the alternative to the sporting rifle. Published March 6, 2013

MILLER: The sequestration farce

Politicians know the game is up once "Saturday Night Live" mocks them and their policies. President Obama found himself in that unenviable position this weekend. He had mustered all his effort to dispatch Cabinet secretaries to stand before every available camera in sight to recite tales of the mayhem and horror that would follow in the wake of a minuscule across-the-board reduction in federal spending. Aperverse side effect of Maryland's gun-control hysteria is that certain proposed legislation could leave American soldiers disarmed. The General Assembly should slow down and think about what it's doing. Published March 4, 2013

Democrats on Capitol Hill are sprinting to give President Obama a quick victory in his gun-control crusade. Sloth won't cut it. Energized senators have sped from bad idea to full committee vote in less than two months. That sounds like sloth in the world where the rest of us live, but in the Senate, that's warp speed. Gun-control laws don't reduce crime, but they do reduce employment. Some governors don't care and are pushing for more pointless statutes that put their citizens' jobs on the line. There is very little agreement in Washington on how to avoid the across-the-board spending reductions scheduled for Friday. Republicans are less than thrilled to see half the sequestration hitting defense, and Democrats are in a meltdown over the prospects of their welfare-state handouts getting a nip and tuck. MILLER: The NRA was right

It may not stick, but the Obama administration might be getting a late education in the value of guns. When President Obama first exploited the tragedy at Newtown for more gun control, Wayne LaPierre, the CEO of the National Rifle Association, suggested putting armed guards in the schools. MILLER: A gun tale of two cities

Nathan Haddad, a former Army staff sergeant in New York, was selling his gun magazines when he was arrested for violating a state law prohibiting possession of magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. He was arrested and charged with five felonies. Published February 21, 2013
