That’s the conclusion of investment bank Goldman Sachs, which published a wide-ranging report late Tuesday May 27, 2014 on the World Cup and its economic impact. Goldman Sachs analysts found “a clear pattern of out performance by the wining team in the weeks after the World Cup final.” On average, the investment bank’s portfolio strategy team the victor outperforms the global market by 3.5 percent in the first month.
