One of the new council members in one of Georgia's biggest cities picked Malcolm X over the Bible for her swearing-in. Mariah Parker was sworn in this week to represent District 2 on the Athens-Clarke County Commission and refused to take her oath of office on the Bible, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. Armored personnel carrier stolen from Fort Pickett leads police on chase through Richmond

A man stole a military armored vehicle and drove it through the streets of Richmond, Virginia, and on one of the nation's busiest interstate highways Tuesday evening. According to WWBT, the Richmond NBC affiliate, the driver surrendered around 9:40 p.m. at East Broad and 11th streets. But the spectacle of a "tank" being driven on Interstate 95 North, and on one of a state capital's major thoroughfares, caused eyes to pop. Published June 5, 2018

Mississauga, Ontario, restaurant explosion causes multiple injuries

An Indian restaurant west of Toronto was hit by an explosion Thursday evening, causing numerous injuries, some of them critical. Officials told Canada's Global News that 15 to 20 people were injured, three of them critically after the blast in Mississauga, Ontario. Published May 24, 2018

Harvey Weinstein to be charged with first-degree rape: Report

The charges that disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein will face reportedly include first-degree rape. CNN reported late Thursday evening, citing "a source familiar with the investigation," that Mr. Weinstein will turn himself in to authorities Friday morning on charges of raping one woman and sexually assaulting another.
