The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee announced Thursday that he is stepping aside from the investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election until he can clear himself of "baseless" ethics complaints filed against him by "left-wing activist groups." ‘Nuclear option’ views opposite for senators after 4 years

When Sen. Jeff Merkley arrived in Congress in 2009, one of his first crusades was to curtail the power of the filibuster, which he thought was halting much of Democrats' wish list under President Obama.
