One and done is almost done

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver is a smart guy, Deron Snyder says, which will lead to the end of this ineffective and pay-restricting structure. Published October 18, 2017

FILE - In this March 19, 2017, file photo, Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James, left, greets Kyrie Irving during the second half of an NBA basketball game against the Los Angeles Lakers in Los Angeles. There is bad blood once again in the NBA. No, it’s not just the Pistons-Bulls or Celtics-Lakers type of feuds. Sure, there’s Warriors-Cavs, Thunder-Warriors and Cavs-Celtics. But these days, it’s more individually driven _ thanks in large part to social media. There’s Russ-KD, LeBron-Kyrie, and even a Whiteside-Embiid can get in on the action. The back-and-forth makes for matchups worth circling on the calendar _ beginning Tuesday night with Boston-Cleveland. (AP Photo/Jae C. Hong, File) **FILE**

NBA action set to resume on court

The NBA season is upon us. Feels like it never left. Instead, the action picked up as superstars packed up after the games ended. Published October 16, 2017

Washington is doing what good teams do

Arguably the least-attractive home date before the season began, the 49ers' 0-5 record only added to the blase feelings. San Francisco should've been a gimme. But in actuality, this was a big game, as big as they come. It would've been even bigger if Washington didn't hold on for a 26-24 victory. Published October 15, 2017

U.S. men’s soccer team failing to qualify for World Cup is baffling

All things considered, reaching the World Cup should've been the least of our concerns. Soccer has exploded in popularity in the U.S. We hadn't failed to qualify since the 1986 cycle. The opponent on Tuesday, Trinidad & Tobago, had nothing to play for. Published October 11, 2017

SNYDER: Maybe the country needs a football timeout

Roger Goodell and NFL team owners don't want to hear this, but perhaps the nation would benefit from taking a little football break. The reason doesn't matter, even if it's as irrational as opposition to protests during the national anthem. Published October 9, 2017

SNYDER: Confessions of a RedZone addict

Growing up as young football fan in Brooklyn, I spent Sunday after Sunday stuck with bad 1970s Giants and Jets football. Today's fans have options. Published October 2, 2017

NFL continues to defy predictions

Results early on Sunday should have provided a hint that Sunday night's outcome between the Redskins and Raiders could be unpredictable. Turns out, it was. Published September 25, 2017

Ezekiel Elliott, accuser both caught in NFL manipulation

We still don't know who's telling the truth: Ezekiel Elliott or the former girlfriend who accuses the Dallas Cowboys running back of domestic abuse. But we know that both have been victimized by the NFL. Published September 13, 2017

SNYDER: Despite problems, football isn’t going away

We're generations away from the point where the drop in participation among the youngest football players will have any impact on the NFL or even college programs. There's simply too much money still to be made. Published August 23, 2017
