Schools take lead role in promoting vaccines for youngsters

With the approval of the COVID-19 vaccine for younger children, many elementary schools around the U.S. are preparing to offer the shots, which educators see as key to keeping students learning in person and making the classroom experience closer to what it once was.

Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts suffer huge declines in membership

America's most iconic youth organizations - the Boy Scouts of America and the Girl Scouts of the USA - have been jolted by unprecedented one-year drops in membership, due partly to the pandemic, and partly to social trends that have been shrinking their ranks for decades.

American Academy of Pediatrics backs return of students to the classroom in the fall

A major medical organization now sides with parents who hope their children can return to school in the fall, despite the coronavirus pandemic. The American Academy of Pediatrics -- which represents 67,000 pediatricians -- now strongly advocates that the goal for all policy considerations "should start with a goal of having students physically present in school."

John Krasinski surprises girl with touching ‘Hamilton’ reunion

Actor John Krasinski told Aubrey, a 9-year-old girl who was supposed to see "Hamilton" for her birthday before it was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, that he would fly her and her mom to New York to see the musical on Broadway once social distancing is over. Then he surprised her even further.
