PICKET: GOP Congressman backing Gingrich critical of colleagues who prefer 'neutrality'

Congressman Trent Franks, Arizona Republican, recently announced his endorsement for former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich. Mr. Franks, a social and fiscal conservative, is among the few current lawmakers on Capitol Hill who is not only vocally supporting a GOP presidential primary candidate but also supporting a candidate who is not former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, the current front runner.

PICKET: Romney and Santorum spar over felon voting at SC debate

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney was pounced upon by his GOP rivals at the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina Republican debate on Tuesday. Hosted by Fox News, the debate was whittled down to five candidates as former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman officially withdrew from the presidential race. One particular exchange happened early on between Mr. Romney and former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum over felon voting.

PICKET: Reid throws blame to GOP on non-existent budget

Despite the fact the U.S. Senate has not passed a budget in two years, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, has refused to take any responsibility for the matter. "Meet the Press" host David Gregory asked the Nevada Democrat why it is taking so long for the upper chamber to agree to a budget plan, and Senator Reid placed the blame on the GOP.

PICKET: Gingrich campaign - Don't expect Newt to go nuclear on Romney tonight

Some are speculating that former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is so incensed with former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney over the attack ads against him from a pro Mitt Romney Super PAC in Iowa, that he will throw political grenades at the Massachusetts Republican tonight. However, Gingrich campaign spokesman R.C. Hammond told me tonight that prediction cannot be further from the truth.

PICKET: Santorum camp counting on South Carolina

Some new polls out on South Carolina primary voters are illustrating two vastly different results. The CNN/Time/ORC has former Masschusetts Governor Mitt Romney with a commanding double digit lead over former Senator Rick Santorum. However, a new Rasmussen poll shows Romney leading Santorum in South Carolina by only three points.
