PICKET: Flashback - Oil drilling permits down 36 percent under Obama

President Barack Obama and Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney engaged in a heated discussion over oil production during the president's first term during their second debate at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York on Tuesday night. President Obama insisted that oil production has been up and that the oil companies have been granted permits to drill but refuse to do so. Governor Romney, though, pointed out that the government is not granting many permits to oil companies, particularly on federal land.

PICKET: Alan Grayson faces tight race and accusation of $2.1 million tax fraud

Former Florida Democratic Congressman Alan Grayson is leading by only three points in the latest St. Pete poll against Republican challenger Todd Long in Florida’s newly formed 9th Congressional District. According to StPetePolls.org, Grayson has 45 percent of the district’s support, while Long has 42.2 percent. Grayson was defeated after one term in 2010 by then Republican challenger (now Congressman) Daniel Webster in Florida’s 8th Congressional District.

The U.S. Supreme Court heard an hour and 20 minutes of oral arguments last week pertaining to a case that could impact racial preferences and affirmative action programs in higher education. The case stems from a white applicant who filed a lawsuit against the University of Texas claiming she did not gain admission as result of the school's racial preferences in their admissions process (Fisher v. Univ. of Texas).

PICKET: Obama campaign to continue to use John Kerry for debate prep

Despite blaming Senator John Kerry, Massachusetts Democrat, for President Obama's poor debate performance in Denver, the Obama camp will continue to employ Senator Kerry's talents for President Obama's upcoming debate prep. Senator Kerry played Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney in previous debate rehearsals before the first presidential debate last week.

What did you think the campaign consisted of?” The Obama Campaign’s Sr. Adviser asked on Thursday night following the vice presidential debate in Kentucky, when I pointed out that a report from Reuters said that Democrats were concerned about a possible backlash over the campaign’s use of Big Bird in a recent campaign ad.

PICKET: (VIDEO) Carney's smooth double speak on Benghazi attack

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney insisted on Wednesday that immediately following the September 11 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, the Obama administration immediately declared it an act of terror. However, Fox News Ed Henry asked Carney about the September 14 press briefing (below) in which Carney stood before reporters and repeatedly blamed the "violence" "protests" and "unrest in the region" on the obscure anti-Muslim video.

PICKET: Media obsession for GOP VP nominees in workout gear

Almost a month after the 2008 vice presidential debate between then Senator Joe Biden and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, Newsweek ran a cover story photo of the Republican vice presidential nominee in her workout clothes. Newsweek commissioned the photo from Runners World, the magazine she posed for originally. Palin was not happy about the photo was used and she was summarily mocked for it anyway.
