House GOP calls on Democrats to negotiate deal to reopen government

House Republican leaders said Tuesday they were waiting on Democrats to sit down with them to carve out a deal to resolve their differences and reopen the government, further escalating the fingerprinting on Capitol Hill over who is responsible for the political stalemate.

Public frustration with lawmakers spills over

Frustration over the government shutdown spilled over Tuesday into a press conference on the Capitol grounds, where citizens had the chance to hurl verbal tomatoes at Republicans who tried to blame Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and President Obama for the stalemate.

Republican unity continued to fray Tuesday with yet another member of the House GOP demanding his party leaders relent in their fight against Obamacare.
