The protests in Egypt have become more intense as acts of violence by pro-Mubarak have reportedly infiltrated the massive gathering of individuals speaking out against the Hosni Mubarak government. I interviewed a young Egyptian protester, by phone on Wednesday, Cynthia Farahat, who described herself as a "conservative in the American sense of the word." She told me that supporters of Mubarak are stirring up violence by assaulting those who are protesting the government.

The Defense Department paid $285 billion to hundreds of military contractors that defrauded the Pentagon, according to a senator's analysis of a new Pentagon report. In a Defense report prepared for Sen. Bernard Sanders, the Vermont independent says the Pentagon spent $270 billion from 2007 to 2009 on 91 contractors involved in civil fraud cases that resulted in judgments of more than $1 million.
Mixed marks for Obama's Egypt response, poll says
Voters have given a mixed review to President Obama’s response to the crisis in Egypt, and many think United Nations involvement would make things worse, a new polls says. Results of a Rasmussen Reports national survey released Wednesday shows that 41 percent of likely voters rate the way the Obama administration has responded to the situation in Egypt as good or excellent. Twenty-two percent view the administration’s response so far as poor.
