MILLER: Prince George’s public gun offenders registry misdirected

Lawmakers in Prince George’s County, Md. hate guns so much they want to brand anyone convicted of violating one of the state’s convoluted firearm statutes. Stab someone with a knife, and the county won’t care or take notice of you after you serve your time. Sell a handgun that’s not on the state’s list of approved firearms, and the Washington suburb will mark you as a criminal and hold you up to public ridicule.

Sen. John McCain pushed back Monday against former Vice President Dick Cheney's comments Sunday that Mr. McCain's choosing former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate in 2008 was a "mistake" — while getting in a few digs at Mr. Cheney in the process.

PICKET: Sen. Sessions: Obama ad claiming plan will pay down debt is false

Senator Jeff Sessions, Alabama Republican and ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee, is not buying the administration's claims on the president's updated budget and is demanding that President Barack Obama's campaign remove an ad (above) that says he has a plan to ‘pay down the debt in a balanced way.’ President Obama claims his plan, which includes his tax proposal that would hike taxes on those making $250,000 and above would be used to pay down the debt.

Cantor refuses to budge on tax cuts

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor said Friday that he thinks Congress will take action on the George W. Bush-era tax cuts before their January expiration date, but he declined to say whether House Republicans will be willing to compromise with Senate Democrats on a plan.
