In this April 1, 2014 photo, Vic Morris retired from the Air Force in 1961 as a lieutenant colonel. He was a flight engineer on the B-29 Superfortress "Danny-Mite" that was shot down over Tokyo on May 24, 1945 during World War II. Seven members of the 11-man crew, including everyone stationed in the back of the plane and the navigator who had gone to the rear to help out when the radar operator had problems, were killed.
