In a nation distinguished by the First Amendment guarantee of free speech, if anyone deserves the wrath of a providential strike against them, it’s the self-declared arbiters of truth, wisdom and light in the press and on TV, in the halls of government and in the “fact checking” departments of social media companies, especially Meta (“Mark Zuckerberg rolls back Meta censorship ahead of Donald Trump’s return to White House,” web, Jan. 7).

It remains to be seen whether Mr. Zuckerberg and his lieutenants in content moderation have truly experienced a free expression epiphany or have come to the transactional realization that serving as vassals to the party of the progressive left isn’t good for business when their ad-consuming customers have expressed themselves differently at the polls.

Regardless of motivation, Bud Light moments can nevertheless lead to genuine progress in political, social and cultural literacy, not only among our citizens, but also elsewhere in the world where freedom of speech is not enshrined in law.
