OPINION:
My son-in-law was recently laid off from Northrop Grumman after 20 years as a satellite engineer. He was told to train his replacement or forfeit his benefits. He has been unemployed for over six months with no prospects in sight.
Although Northrop Grumman has lost several contracts recently, the hiring that it has done puts in place individuals who are less qualified than my son-in-law. I believe the H-1B program permits widespread replacing of American workers with less-qualified candidates, although this is unlawful (“Elon Musk is not your friend,” web, Jan. 1).
Funny; the American culture that saved World War II isn’t good enough to protect us now. Maybe Mr. Musk could try looking harder.
