Nobody had a better rookie season in the NFL this year than Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels. The trading card market has pounced on the charismatic dual-threat passer after he led the Commanders to a pair of upset playoff victories.
According to the trading card graders at Professional Sports Authenticator, Daniels’ cards have grown in value by 4,800% since the season began.
The quarterback soared past other promising rookies, such as Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey, whose cards appreciated by 1,300%, and Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., whose cards increased by 1,100%.
On Tuesday morning, a “Vertical Gold Kaboom!” Daniels card from Panini was listed for $120,000 on eBay. More than 150 potential buyers had placed the item on their watchlist.
But even a relatively common Daniels rookie card can fetch about $1,300, according to Professional Sports Authenticator President Ryan Hoge.
“The price is an indicator of how much demand there is around those cards,” Hoge told NBC Sports, though he noted that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes still holds the title for the most expensive card. “It’s a quarterback-led hobby.”
