A Border Patrol agent was shot and killed along the northern border Monday.
Details were sparse, but Vermont State Police said the shooting took place on Interstate 91 at 3:15 p.m.
Acting Homeland Security Secretary Benjamine Huffman confirmed the death.
“Today, January 20, a Border Patrol agent assigned to the US Border Patrol’s Swanton Sector was fatally shot in the line of duty,” he said.
He said the shooting is “being swiftly investigated.”
