We can chalk one up for common-sense legislation (“Federal judge vacates Title IX overhaul in defeat for Biden administration,” Web, Jan. 9). The recent ruling means extreme leftist policymakers have no place in society. And it exposes the depth of the outgoing Biden administration’s efforts to undermine America’s bedrock systems.

If Biden’s Title IX overhaul had not been vacated, it could have done irreparable harm to American women — not just in sports, but in all aspects of public life. U.S. District Chief Judge Danny Reeves’ decision was appropriate, holding that the attempt to change Title IX was based on a gross misreading of the sex-discrimination ban.

I have personally seen several female high school athletes lose interest in competing because they would have had to do so against biological males (with whom they were forced to share locker rooms). These young ladies lost athletic scholarships, forcing their parents to take on massive loan debts so they could attend college.

This is an example of how far our public policies have drifted from representing the majority to taking up the cause of a fringe minority.  I don’t think Democrats who voted for Joe Biden imagined the attempt his administration would make to undermine the protections and integrity of women’s and girls’ athletics.

During her confirmation hearings in 2022, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson was advised not to define the word woman. The followinf year, Secretary of Education Miguel Cordona also refused to define the word.

It’s clear that the entire administration was complicit in trying to implement these radical changes in sports and, if that had been successful, likely across government, too. One of the things that makes our country great is that every four years we get to express our opinions about the direction we’re taking. Biden was determined to ignore the will of the voters, and he heard loud and clear just what we thought of that.
