OPINION:
“Bishop” Mariann Edgar Budde called the political diatribe she hurled at President Trump her “final plea.” However, it more resembles Hitler’ “final solution” (“Bishop Budde pushes propaganda with pleas for mercy,” Web, Feb. 2).
Budde asked the president to have “mercy” on illegal immigrants and LGBTQ+ children. Translation: please subject the American people
to four more years of Biden’s illegal policy aberrations.
What she was really demanding is a separate system of laws for illegals because while they “may not be citizens or have proper documentation … they pay taxes and are good neighbors. They are faithful members of our churches and mosques, synagogues, gurdwaras and temples.”
But such logic was rejected here well before the Revolutionary War. William Penn received a land grant for what became the colony of Pennsylvania. He stated, and later had codified that “Any government is free to the people under it where the laws rule and the people are a party to those laws and more than this is tyranny, and oligarchy, or confusion.”
Budde also claimed that the majority of illegal are not criminals. Surely that is cold comfort to the family of murdered nursing student Laken Riley and others whose loved ones were raped, murdered, carjacked, beaten and/or robbed by illegal immigrants. The issue is not just the number of illegals committing crimes but also the number and type of crimes they’re committing.
Finally, Budde claims that some LGBTQ+ children “fear for their lives” under President Trump. Truth is a great antidote for deception. It should be imparted.
