OPINION:
President Trump has made it clear that the illegal discrimination known as diversity, equity and inclusion will no longer be tolerated in the federal government (“Trump’s executive actions on DEI are a win for American safety, strength and excellence,” Web, Feb. 4). The next step should be making clear that DEI will not be tolerated anywhere, including states, cities, universities and corporations, and until this debacle is expunged and gone, organizations will not receive any federal funding and/or contracts.
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 clearly prohibits discrimination based on race, color, national origin, sex or religion, and makes employment discrimination illegal. However, Costco, Boeing and many others have indicated that they intend to continue to embrace this discriminatory practice against approximately 70% of our citizens. So some of our brightest, most talented, hardworking and deserving are being told to go to the back of the line in hiring, promotion and admission decisions based solely on the color of their skin.
When our new attorney general finds a little spare time, she should focus her efforts on eliminating this shameful practice, which has been a stain on our nation. Until then, the 70% should spend their hard-earned dollars elsewhere and inflict some economic pain and discomfort on these unpatriotic, leftist companies and organizations.
To paraphrase Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., it’s about the content of your character, not the color of your skin. Dr. King would be ashamed and appalled.
