The Dallas Mavericks seem to know that fans aren’t happy with Sunday’s trade that sent superstar Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. Several season ticket holders have said the team is offering them refunds for the remainder of the NBA season.Â
The Mavericks haven’t confirmed the refunds but noted that frustrated season ticket holders are welcome to reach out to the team.
“We value every season ticket member relationship, and reps are available to take calls from members with any concerns or questions,” the franchise said in a statement to Dallas’ WFAA.
Die-hard Dallas supporters responded with outrage to the trade that sent Doncic, a 25-year-old five-time All-NBA selection, to Southern California. Fans and analysts agreed that the return — which centered on All-Star forward Anthony Davis and a 2029 first-round pick — wasn’t enough for the star guard.Â
Several fans flocked to the Mavs’ arena after the trade, carrying a casket and displaying signs criticizing General Manager Nico Harrison.Â
“I’m sorry they’re frustrated, but it’s something that we believe in as an organization,” Harrison said. “It’s going to make us better. We believe that it sets us up to win, not only now, but also in the future. And when we win, I believe the frustration will go away.”
