Washington Capitals prospect Cam Allen faces several charges after an impaired-driving crash in London, Ontario, on Saturday morning, authorities said.
A passenger suffered minor injuries in the single-vehicle crash, according to the London Police Service.
Investigators claimed that Allen, 20, was intoxicated when he crashed a vehicle and left the scene. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 6 for five criminal charges related to the crash.
Allen was a fifth-round pick of the Capitals in 2023 and signed a three-year deal with the franchise after a developmental camp with the franchise last summer. The defenseman currently plays for the minor-league London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League, where he has recorded 42 points in 45 games this season.
A Capitals spokesperson said the team was aware of the incident but refrained from providing detailed comments due to the legal nature of the incident.
