Former NFL coach Tony Dungy isn’t shy about his Christian faith. The Hall of Famer, a pro-life advocate, took to social media last week to question Vice President Kamala Harris’ faith in light of her platform on abortion.
Harris, the Democratic nominee in this year’s presidential election, has repeatedly said her administration would push federal legislation in support of abortion.
“One does not have to abandon their faith or deeply held beliefs to agree,” Harris wrote on X on Thursday. “The government, and certainly Donald Trump, should not be telling a woman what to do with her body.”
The Democrat’s comments drew the ire of many conservatives, including Dungy.
“Exactly what ‘faith’ are you talking about when you say you don’t have to abandon it to support abortion,” Dungy wrote on X, citing several verses from the Bible’s Old Testament. “Are you talking about that faith or some nebulous, general ‘faith’ that says we’re good enough, and smart enough to make our own decisions?”
The coach’s message quickly spread on social media. On X, his post has been viewed more than 9.8 million times with 106,000 likes.
