A two-on-two TV event featuring rival golfers from the PGA and LIV tours next month will feature a $10 million prize. The participants won’t receive cash or a check, though — they’ll be paid in CRO cryptocurrency, according to multiple reports.

The event will air on TNT on Dec. 17 and feature Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy — two of the PGA’s top golfers — against LIV stars Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau.

Crypto.com is sponsoring the 18-hole exhibition and confirmed the seven-figure purse to Front Office Sports this week. They did not specify how the prize would be split, but noted that the athletes could sell or trade the currency.

The $10 million purse dwarfs most PGA Tour rewards. This week’s RSM Classic features $7.6 million in total prizes, while next month’s Hero World Challenge boasts a $5 million purse.

After a split in 2022, the best golfers from the LIV and PGA Tours only square off four times a year at the sport’s prestigious majors.

“We wanted to do something that, I guess, all golf fans could get excited about,” McIlroy said before the Irish Open in September. “It’s a way to show golf fans in the world that this is what could happen or these are the possibilities going forward.”

President-elect Donald Trump, a noted golf fanatic, has said he could resolve the rift between the two tours “in 15 minutes.”
