OPINION:
For nearly a century, we’ve seen well-off individuals win seats in Congress, remain there for decades and depart as multimillionaires — all the while having done little to help Americans or the United States. For this reason, I suggest a congressional term limit amendment to the Constitution.
We have a fundamental right to a Congress in which the senators and representatives always work for the benefit and betterment of the people of the United States, never for the benefit or betterment of any political party, politician or themselves.
Therefore, the maximum term of service for both the Senate and House should be 12 years (two six-year terms). Service in both houses should be permissible as long as the total length of service does not exceed 12 years.
We must take Congress back from professional politicians.
