OPINION:
Illegal immigrant Jose Ibarra was found guilty of the murder of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley and sentenced to the maximum sentence sought by the prosecutor — life imprisonment without the possibility of parole (“Venezuelan gangster convicted of murder, gets life in prison for killing Georgia student Laken Riley,” web, Nov. 20).
Riley’s sister summed it best at the sentencing hearing: “That predator is inhumane and the epitome of evil.”
President Biden and his border czar, Vice President Kamala Harris, have blood on their hands for this killing and others committed by illegal immigrants who were allowed to enter and stay in this country freely.
President-elect Donald Trump’s pledge to deport such criminals cannot come soon enough, nor can his promise to have such killings be made a federal capital crime subject to the death penalty. That is especially critical in cases such as the Riley murder trial, where the state prosecutor declines to invoke a state’s capital punishment law.
