OPINION:
Real leaders do not desert their supporters in times of adversity. A prime example is Gen. George Washington, who shared in the miseries of his men at Valley Forge. Later, Washington led the troops in battle at Yorktown, where England surrendered to the nascent United States.
Our first president was later eulogized by Virginia statesman Henry Lee as “first in war, first in peace and first in the hearts of his countrymen.”
In contrast, Kamala Harris chose not to address her supporters on election night.
YouTuber Michael Sowell said: “The thing that really bothers me was her cowardice. … I feel sorry for her supporters. They remained until very late, to hear their candidate speak, win or lose. In loss, they needed consoling from their leader. She is not a leader at all. She showed her true colors.”
Ms. Harris had already shown those, though. Just last month, a reporter attempted to ask her a question about the war in the Middle East — and she ran away from him.
In 2022, she ran away from a different reporter when illegal aliens had been dropped off at the vice president’s mansion, her current home. Later that same day, when another reporter attempted to interview her about the matter, she ran yet again.
This news was buried by an accommodating media.
