Cornerback Noah Igbinoghene is joining the Washington Commanders on a one-year contract, according to multiple reports.

The 2020 first-round pick of the Miami Dolphins never became a consistent starter, but he could provide depth for a Washington secondary that struggled in 2023.

The Auburn product follows new coach Dan Quinn to the Commanders after the pair worked together with the Dallas Cowboys last season. The 24-year-old appeared in five games and did not record any tackles or pass deflections.

The Commanders lost cornerback Kendall Fuller to Miami in free agency, leaving an open starting spot in the rotation. Emmanuel Forbes, Washington’s first-round selection in 2023, struggled in his rookie season and was benched in October.

Washington has been active in free agency, using their league-leading cap space to add more than a dozen players to their roster. With the first wave of free agency in the rearview mirror, general manager Adam Peters and the front office can turn their attention to April’s draft, where the Commanders hold the No. 2 overall pick.
