Rep. Elise Stefanik, New York Republican and a potential vice presidential candidate, has asserted: “Israel is indeed a miracle, an outpost of freedom, of Western values, of civilization, a striking example of human potential.”

Yet human rights organizations such as Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and Israel’s B’Tselem consider Israel to be an apartheid regime. According to Human Rights Watch: “We reached this determination based on our documentation of an overarching government policy to maintain the domination by Jewish Israelis over Palestinians coupled with grave abuses committed against Palestinians living in the occupied territory, including East Jerusalem.”

Yet there is little discussion of this in the halls of Congress or in the mainstream media.

As Friedrich Nietzsche observed: “All things are subject to interpretation. Whichever interpretation prevails at a given time is a function of power and not truth.”
