Country singer Darius Rucker of Hootie & the Blowfish fame was arrested Thursday on drug charges in Franklin, Tennessee, about 22 miles south of Nashville.

Mr. Rucker is charged with simple possession of a drug, simple exchange of a drug, and violation of registration law, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office told WSMV-TV.

Law enforcement did not specify what drug Mr. Rucker is accused of possessing and did not explain the circumstances of his arrest.

Mr. Rucker was released on a $10,500 bond Thursday.

Darius Rucker is fully cooperating with authorities related to misdemeanor charges,” Mr. Rucker’s attorney, Mark Puryear III, said in a statement to WZTV-TV.

Hootie & the Blowfish are going on tour later this year, starting with a show in Dallas on May 30 and ending with a show in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sept. 28.
