OPINION:
I started my law enforcement career back in 1968 at the Brooklyn Navy Yard as a cross-country brig chaser, transporting prisoners who had gotten out of the hospital after being wounded in Vietnam. I got into law enforcement as a police and correctional officer in the ’70s.
Suffice to say, I know when someone is being railroaded. That brings me to the most outrageous suits to date against former President Donald Trump (“It’s expensive for Trump to defend himself, and conservatives,” web, Feb. 14).
Mr. Trump has been treated like a second-class citizen in a Third World country. For the past several years, I’ve watched the Democrats abuse their power in their pursuit of Trump, prostituting the laws of the land to do it. A prime example is the civil suit brought by vindictive New York Attorney General Letitia James, who has a serious vendetta against Mr. Trump, and the ruling in that case of presiding Judge Arthur Engoron. Judge Engoron also hates Mr. Trump and slapped the former commander in chief with nearly $355 million in penalties. This is the worst miscarriage of justice I have ever witnessed.
Judge Engoron denied Mr. Trump his right to due process before the suit ever started, so the bias and abuse of power has been obvious all along.
Mr. Trump has been adjudged and is now banned from serving as an officer or director in any New York business for three years. He is also prohibited from applying for or receiving any bank loans for that period.
This is an insult to all people who believe in democracy and the law. Judge Engoron abused his power, and Ms. James is guilty of malicious prosecution. Both are a disgrace to our legal system and should be removed from office forthwith.
