Letter to the editor: Who weaponized the FBI -- again?

Just when you think the Democrats can’t stoop any lower, they do.

Remember, this is the party that has screamed about election interference and Russian collusion. It’s the party that has weaponized the Department of Justice against political opposition and law-abiding citizens for the past four years.

Now, as detailed in “Trump taps Patel to restore trust in FBI; Republicans support shake-up, Democrats wary of intentions” (web, Dec. 1), Democratic leadership has found religion and is audaciously ranting about President-elect Donald Trump’s nominations and the damage they will supposedly cause.

Ironically, the Democrats are saying that Kash Patel is too much of a Trump loyalist to become FBI director and is unqualified for the position. Sen. Richard Durbin, Illinois Democrat, hypocritically urged the Senate to “reject this unprecedented effort to weaponize the FBI for a campaign of retribution that Donald Trump has promised.”

No, Senator, Mr. Trump is selecting the brightest, best and most qualified to rapidly fulfill his campaign commitments to our citizens clean up the mess and put out the dumpster fires that your party is leaving behind.

Unlike their predecessors, Mr. Patel and other Trump nominees will always put our country, Constitution and citizens first, and they will restore the honor, dignity and reputations of the government agencies your party has gleefully destroyed.

As Mr. Trump has said, his goals are to make America great again, restore law and order and put our citizens and country first in all decisions. He has said many times that his retribution will be the success of our country and all Americans. Sadly, his fulfilling that commitment is by far Mr. Durbin and the Democrats’ greatest fear.
