After its 2024 election losses, the political left is beginning to look like a plane with its rudder blown off. It can still fly, but the guys in the cockpit have little or no control over its flight path. I myself think the left lost its rudder years ago, but has somehow been able to manage along without too much notice.

The left started off with good intentions, but something went wrong. It’s like the old saying “Give an inch and they’ll take a mile.” I think the single biggest problem with this cohort is that it has no sense of boundaries and no idea when to stop.

It’s like a doctor who prescribes opiates to a patient after major surgery, but keeps prescribing and gets the patient addicted. I see a large number of Americans as the patient and the political left as the doctor.

However, I also see the majority of Americans as a good friend trying to force the patient into rehab. What will the doctor do once the patient no longer needs pain medication? What will the patient do? Real freedom can be terrifying.
