On this New Year’s Day filled with endless possibilities, I would like to take this opportunity to wish our beloved country a happy new year.

In looking back on 2024, the happiness I felt at the election of Donald Trump can be best summed up in the words of my favorite quote from the holiday movie “A Christmas Story.” After rising for the day, I thought to myself that all was “most right with the world” again.

“A Christmas Story” is a classic American holiday film, as it embodies everything that is good about our country and tells us what it takes to be successful in obtaining what we want and care most about. The movie’s lead character, Ralphie, shows us that success is not something that can simply be given to you because you want it; it has to be pursued, fought for and won.

In demonstrating this, Ralphie teaches us about the power of perseverance and fighting the good fight (which reminds me of someone who just won a hard-fought election).

And as we move into 2025, I would like to offer some reassurance to those experiencing apprehension or uncertainty during this holiday season by simply saying: “Yes, Virginia,” Santa Claus does exist — and rest easy on this New Year’s Day as he is going to make America great again.
