While it is true, as Robert Knight writes, that Americans have lost faith in Democratic-run government institutions because we have been misled by liars, the last election results suggest an even more fundamental reason for revolt: Democrats have not kept us safe (“As Team Biden’s lies drone on, the truth comes out,” web, Dec. 22).

President Biden’s humiliating Afghanistan withdrawal and timid slow-walking of aid to Israel and Ukraine has emboldened our overseas adversaries to wage war and pursue hegemony. Democratic-led lawfare has persecuted innocent citizens while their law enforcement policies have released violent criminals back onto the streets. Mr. Biden’s open border let in thousands of violent foreign criminals, rapists and terrorists.

Democrats’ COVID-19 coercion based on political science has decimated small businesses and harmed our children emotionally and educationally. This feckless, doddering administration has dithered while Chinese spy balloons and SUV-sized drones have hovered over restricted military zones and homes.

Voters elected Donald Trump because we know that at his core, he understands strength. We now count on him to take fearless steps to keep us safe.

Mr. Trump’s appointments aim at ensuring our safety through strength. Sen. Marco Rubio, whose family escaped Castro’s Cuba, will unflinchingly confront the autocratic axis of evil of China, Russia, Iran and North Korea as secretary of state. Tough-as-nails border czar Tom Homan will reinforce and protect our borders and round up and deport illegals who mean us harm. Pam Bondi, who fought Democrats’ partisan impeachment of Mr. Trump, will put the blindfold back on Lady Justice as attorney general after years of Democratic lawfare against political opponents.

The incoming administration appears poised to return the nation to the rule of law, ensure peace through strength and prioritize the safety of American citizens. Now we all just need to survive until Inauguration Day.
