OPINION:
A Columbia University professor who referred to Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, attacks on Israel as “awesome” is set to teach a course on Zionism at that Ivy League institution.
The course, taught by Joseph Massad, will supposedly explore the history of the Jewish enlightenment in 19th-century Europe and the development of Zionism through the current peace process between the state of Israel, the Arab states and the Palestinian national movement.
What’s next, Columbia? A course in ethical journalism taught by Joseph Goebbels? Or a course on antisemitism taught by Candace Owens? This is disgusting on so many levels. Hopefully, under the Trump administration, federal funding for schools like this will evaporate and alumni will reconsider supporting these institutions with any donations. What a colossal disservice this is to our young people.
