Another day, another school shooting (“At least 3 dead, including female teen assailant, in shootings at Wisconsin Christian school,” web, Dec. 16).

This time it was Madison, Wisconsin. Tomorrow it could be your city, or mine.

Since Congress and most state legislatures are not willing to tighten lax gun laws, the only defense that is viable to protect students is to beef up security.

I do not understand why sports stadiums that seat tens of thousands of people are able to ensure that guns are kept out, but we are unable to keep guns out of schools.

It will be expensive to provide a heavy layer of security to schools, but we have no choice. No pupil or parent should ever have to worry about whether the child will come home from school safely each day.
