The Washington Commanders won’t pick up the fifth-year option for linebacker Jamin Davis, according to multiple reports.
That means he’ll be a free agent next March unless the two sides agree on a new contract.
The 2021 first-round pick out of Kentucky would have made $14 million in 2025 if Washington had accepted the option.
Davis has started 36 games in his three seasons with the Commanders, recording 269 tackles, seven sacks and an interception.
Washington added two linebackers in free agency, leading to questions about Davis’ future with the team. The new additions, Frankie Luvu and nine-time Pro Bowler Bobby Wagner, are expected to start for the Commanders in 2024.
