OPINION:
At a time when the United States needs leadership like never before, Sen. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell offers none. In fact, instead of fighting for our country, he has given up and is satisfied with his soft life.
Yet there is plenty to fight for. The Biden administration and the Democratic Party leadership have made our once-great country a mess. This includes skyrocketing crime in our cities and anarchy at our border; runaway inflation; out-of-control spending; a dangerous weakening of our military in the face of a failed foreign policy while China and other adversaries get stronger; a doubling of the size of the IRS, which will harass our citizens and more.
In the absence of McConnell leadership, some of the respected Republican senators have to do two things: First, organize and put together a clear plan for the American people that will offer hope and select the key Senate election races that will give the Republicans control of the Senate. Then get out there on the trail and campaign, campaign, campaign.
Some of the leaders who can make this happen are Sens. Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, Tim Scott, Josh Hawley, Marsha Blackburn and Lindsay Graham. They need to take the lead in the Republican Party with a clear plan for our nation’s problems and fight for Republican wins using high-energy campaigning. We need a sense of urgency on this because saving our country requires that Republicans win both the House and the Senate in November.
