A complaint of “inappropriate behavior” against Bill Murray has reportedly stopped production on the legendary comic actor’s latest movie.

After having been delayed a few days, Searchlight Pictures halted work on the “Being Mortal” and notified cast and crew of its move in a Wednesday night note.

The reason, according to a Thursday afternoon report in the entertainment-news site Deadline, is a complaint filed against Mr. Murray last week.

Deadline cited unspecified “sources” in attributing the halt to a complaint against the 71-year-old former star of “Saturday Night Live” and “Ghostbusters.” The publication already had acquired the letter about the production halt.

The site did not specify or even hint at what the “inappropriate behavior” was. It did report that the complaint did not also involve co-stars Seth Rogan and Aziz Ansari, the film’s writer-director.

Searchlight told Deadline that it would have no comment or elaboration because of the ongoing investigation.

The film had been scheduled for a release next year and it’s unclear what the film’s status now is.

“Our hope is to resume production and are working with Aziz and [co-producer Youree Henley] to figure out that timing,” Searchlight wrote in its Wednesday letter.

The film is an adaptation of “Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End,” a nonfiction book by Atul Gawand. Principal photography had begun March 28, and, according to Deadline, was about halfway done when production was halted.
