ALBANY, Ga. (AP) - Southwest Georgia’s largest city will be getting a new bus station and new additions to its airport.

Albany Transportation Director David Hamilton tells WALB-TV that the Albany Transit System and intercity buses will share a new terminal downtown expected to be completed by June 2022.

At Southwest Georgia Regional Airport, city officials plan a new general aviation facility and a new storage hangar. That will add space for bigger aircraft.

The airport project will be completed in two phases. It will be paid for with federal and state grants

Hamilton says the city hopes to include disadvantaged businesses, minority businesses, and women-owned businesses in the construction projects.
