LOS ANGELES (AP) - Santa Ana winds gusted across parts of Southern California on Wednesday.
A film production crane toppled over in Pasadena, tree debris littered streets and canopies over restaurant outdoor dining areas flapped in the gusts.
The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning through midday for the mountains of northern Los Angeles County and wind advisories elsewhere in the region.
The weather service advised that travel could be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles, on Interstate 5 and State Route 14.
An early morning gust hit 69 mph (111 kph) at Warm Springs in the LA County mountains.
The dry, blustery conditions were expected to dramatically change by Thursday as a thick marine layer is drawn in by circulation linked to a strong upper-level disturbance dropping south of the Pacific Northwest into the Great Basin, forecasters said.
