Former Washington Football Team and current New York Jets wide receiver Jamison Crowder took a pay cut in a renegotiation of the final year of his three-year $28.5 million contract.
Crowder, who’s led the Jets in receptions the past two seasons, was set to make $10 million this season, but the Jets approached the 27-year old receiver in the offseason about the pay cut.
“A little bit surprised,” Crowder told the Associated Press.“It’s a business. It is what it is. I’m here now, so I’m just ready to rock out, man.”
Crowder faced being cut if he didn’t take the pay cut after the Jets drafted Elijah Moore from Ole Miss in the second round, a star receiver who recorded more than 2,400 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns in his three years in Oxford, Mississippi.
During his four years in Washington, Crowder logged more than 2,600 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. In the two years he’s played in New York, Crowder has amassed more than 1,500 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.
