ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - A missing Colorado man has been found dead after a two-day search earlier this week at Snowmass Ski Resort near Aspen, authorities said.
David Cross, 32, from Carbondale was found on Thursday after a friend reported him missing, The Aspen Times reported. Cross was last seen alive on Tuesday at 11:50 a.m. boarding the resort’s Village Express lift.
A statement by Pitkin County said rescue personnel found Cross in “very hazardous terrain” after he snowboarded into backcountry. Snowmass Ski Patrol located the body by following a single track in the snow.
Aspen Skiing Company, Pitkin County sheriff’s office and Mountain Rescue Aspen assisted in the search.
It is unclear how Cross died. The Pitkin County coroner is expected to determine the cause of death.
