ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) - One man has been arrested and authorities are searching for a second man who may be tied to the deadly shooting of a teacher in South Carolina.

The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office said Aloysius Green, 18, has been charged with the shooting death of 49-year-old Karl Williams, a popular teacher in Orangeburg County, news outlets reported. Investigators said Williams was shot in December when he answered a knock at his door.

When deputies responded to a shooting call they found Williams “laying on the floor inside of the doorway unresponsive and appeared to have been struck in the torso by gunfire,” a police report said. A woman, who also lives at the home, was sitting on the floor next to Williams, the report said.

The woman wasn’t injured.

Bullets hit the house seven times and Williams’ 2016 Chevrolet Equinox was also damaged, authorities said.

Green has also been charged with attempted murder in connection with a shooting that happened this past week. It was unknown if he has an attorney who could speak on his behalf.

Investigators said they are still looking for another suspect in the shooting, 18-year-old Calik Guinyard of Pelion. Anyone with information about Guinyard’s whereabouts, is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 803-534-3550 or Midlands Crime Stoppers at 888-274-6372.
