A representative for Chris Pratt says the latest attempt to smear the actor’s reputation across social media includes fabricated anti-Muslim and racist tweets.

Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” star has repeatedly been the subject of online character assassination attempts for years by left-wing activists who are upset over his outspoken Christian faith, love for hunting, and hesitancy to get involved in partisan politics on social media.

Recent attempts to frame Mr. Pratt as a “white supremacist,” for instance, even prompted co-star Robert Downey Jr. to defend him online as “a real #Christian who lives by #principle, has never demonstrated anything but #positivity and #gratitude.”

Chris never tweeted the offensive things that are being circulated today,” a representative told TMZ Wednesday of racial epithets included in a trending hashtag related to the actor. “Any suggestion that he did is not only totally false but also defamatory.”

One of the fabricated tweets purporting to be from his pre-Marvel days included the claim that “Muslims scare me,” while others debated the humorous potential of racial slurs.

A senior executive for Twitter added that its teams “strongly believe” the tweets attributed to Mr. Pratt “to be fake,” the website reported.
