CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - A third person has been arrested stemming from the death of a toddler who ingested fentanyl while her parents used heroin inside a vehicle in New Hampshire, the U.S. Marshals Service said Saturday.
The 21-month-old girl died in November after ingesting fentanyl, authorities have said. Police arrested the girl’s parents - Mark Geremia, 32, and Shawna Cote, 29 - on Tuesday and charged them with negligent homicide and other charges.
The marshals service said Saturday that a third fugitive, Dana Dolan, 24, has been arrested. Dolan was last known to reside in Tilton, New Hampshire.
The service said Dolan attempted to flee on Saturday and was quickly arrested at an apartment. It said Dolan was transferred to the custody of Londonderry police to be processed for negligent homicide and other charges.
Dolan is expected to make an initial court appearance on Monday. It was unclear on Saturday if Dolan has an attorney. Lawyers have entered not guilty pleas for Geremia and Cote and they have been ordered detained until trial.
Dolan was in a vehicle with Geremia and Cote and the couple’s two daughters on Nov. 16. A police affidavit said all three adults used heroin and fell asleep, and Dolan later woke up to Geremia yelling “she’s dead” about the toddler.
