ONTARIO, Calif. (AP) - A wind-driven mulch fire spewed a smelly cloud across parts of inland Southern California on Thursday.
Area firefighters were on the scene of the large fire burning in south Ontario, about 35 miles (56.3 kilometers) east of Los Angeles.
Smoke streamed from the agricultural area across neighborhoods in adjacent Chino.
Much of Southern California was under a wind advisory.
The National Weather Service said a gust in Chino Hills around 5 a.m. hit 49 mph (78.8 kph).
The winds were predicted to diminish during the afternoon.
