HINDMAN, Ky. (AP) - A Kentucky man fatally shot his uncle and wounded a woman and was charged with murder and assault, police said.
Travis Short, 29, called dispatchers Sunday and told them he had shot Denver Patrick, 45, and Edna Patrick, 68, in the Garrett community of Knott County, Kentucky State Police said in a statement.
Responding officers determined that Short had fired multiple shots at Denver Patrick, who was pronounced dead at the scene by the Knott County Coroner’s Office, police said. Edna Patrick was wounded and taken to a hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.
Police didn’t release a motive in the shooting.
Short was arrested and taken to the Kentucky River Regional Jail, police said. It wasn’t immediately clear whether he has an attorney.
